Is it ok to use honey in vegan baking?

The short answer to that is that different people will have different opinions about it.

I don’t know if you’ve been on the internet lately but people are VERY passionate about A LOT of things and there’s always a debate even among vegans about what can and cannot be eaten.

Personally, as the owner of a vegan bakery, I do not use any honey in any of my bakes.

That’s because honey comes from a bee and that makes it an animal product.

Instead I use agave. It comes from a plant, it’s just as sweet, has the same consistency and it can be subbed 1-for-1 in any baking.

Maple syrup is another option but it does have a more distinct flavor that will come through in the baking so agave is a safer substitution.
