There's definitely crying in baking

It was 5:30 am on Sunday morning and I was in the bathroom, sitting on the floor crying. Not my brightest moment, I must admit, but I want to share it with you anyway because I think we can all learn something from it. What Happened That Sunday I was scheduled to have a pop up event at a local coffee shop. People had been preordering their treats all week and they were especially excited about the vegan donuts I had been advertising. It took me years to figure out how to make vegan donuts that tasted just like the real deal and I couldn’t wait to share them with my customers. I made donuts all week long as practice....

Hosting a Harry Potter Themed Pop Up

This should come as a secret to absolutely no one but I'm a huge Harry Potter dork! So for Harry Potter's birthday I decided to partner with a local bookshop and wine store here in St. Pete called Book + Bottle (which you should totally check out if you haven't already, by the way. I'd like to think it's the kind of place Hermoine where would hang out) and do a Harry Potter themed pop up. Curious Cat Bakery brought the themed desserts (from peanut butter cookie dough golden snitches to Deathly Hallows cookie sandwiches), Book + Bottle brought the butterbeers and a Harry Potter inspired wine tasting, and you guys brought wands, themed shirts, masks (sigh, 2020) and a whole...

Making Disney Inspired Desserts

It's no secret that I'm a Harry Potter dork but what I'm an even bigger dork over is Disney. Main Street USA is my happy place. If I'm having a down day, you bet I'm watching some kind of Disney classic as a pick me up and if you see me singing along with a big stupid smile on my face while I drive, it's probably to some Disney tunes. Yep, that kind of level of dork. I just love it. So I couldn't help but get inspired by some of my favorite Disney movies and make some desserts. Snow White Anyone else getting major Snow White vibes here? Apples, witchy set up, dreamy flowers🍎🔮🌾 and the phillo crust in...

These days there are very few things we can all agree one. But that chocolate chip cookies are delicious might be one of them. They're so simple and yet so satisfying. And while there are a million iterations of the classic out there, it is really hard to mess one up! With so many things going for it, it's no wonder this cookie has its own official day. And if you want to celebrate it, here are some ideas: Make some chocolate chip cookies (duh!) You can download my recipe for the (clears throat) best chocolate chip cookies ever here. The ingredients list is super simple and you probably already have all of them in your pantry. For chocolate chips I use...

Making a Folklore Cake inspired by TSwift's album

So Folklore might just be playing on repeat in my headphones as I type this. Actually, scratch the "might". It totally is. And because I'm a baker of course my first reaction to watching the Cardigan video was "I want to make a cake inspired by this!" And then I did. After a serious back and forth text with my friends who are die hard Swifties, we settled on the flavor: cinnamon cake with a salted caramel filling and whiskey buttercream to represent both the lyrics and the fall feel of the whole album. Then the decoration was fun to figure out too. The caramel waterfall on the side was inspired by the scene in Cardigan where the water is...
