Hosting a Harry Potter Themed Pop Up

This should come as a secret to absolutely no one but I'm a huge Harry Potter dork! So for Harry Potter's birthday I decided to partner with a local bookshop and wine store here in St. Pete called Book + Bottle (which you should totally check out if you haven't already, by the way. I'd like to think it's the kind of place Hermoine where would hang out) and do a Harry Potter themed pop up. Curious Cat Bakery brought the themed desserts (from peanut butter cookie dough golden snitches to Deathly Hallows cookie sandwiches), Book + Bottle brought the butterbeers and a Harry Potter inspired wine tasting, and you guys brought wands, themed shirts, masks (sigh, 2020) and a whole...

Veganizing Candace Nelson's Skillet Cookie

Have you ever craved something after seeing it somewhere? That's what happened to me recently after I saw 2 of my favorite people to follow online — Candace Nelson and Reese Whiterspoon — making a skillet cookie. Sidebar: when I say these are 2 of my favorites, I'm not lying. Candace's podcast Live To Eat is in my ears as I bake every single week and Reese, well, I'll watch anything she makes whether it's a YouTube video, TikTok or series on Hulu. But I digress... That skillet cookie looked SO GOOD and I just needed to have it but it had butter and 2 eggs in it so I had to figure out a way to veganize it. I...

Easy Vegan Ice Cream Treats

I don't know about where you are but here in Florida in the summer it gets to be roughly about 10 degrees cooler than the surface of the sun and when it gets that hot, I like to make some ice cream treats. All it takes is some store-bought vegan ice cream and some baked goods for a totally decadent summer dessert. Here are my favorites: #1 Ice Cream Sandwich Here in St. Pete there's an all vegan ice cream shop called Plant Love Ice Cream and their Salted Caramel Cashew ice cream is (chef's kiss) amazing with my Once Pecan a Time Cookies. One scoop in between 2 cookies and I'm in heaven. If you're not local, I recommend...

How can you veganize a boxed cake?

Back in the day before I went vegan I used to eat boxed cake all the time. You know, the stuff you add water, oil and eggs and it magically transforms into a cake? Well, after going vegan that stuff was a no-no since I couldn't use eggs but I thought why not give some substitutes a try and see if I could veganize this thing. So there's good news and bad news. The good news is that yes, it could be done. I tried 3 different egg substitutes: chia eggs, Just Egg and a can of Coke. All 3 actually produced a cake in the end. The bad news is that none of them produced a cake really worth...

Recipe: Vegan Chocolate Refrigerator No Bake Cake

If you love chocolate, hate having to work for it, and doing dishes is not your jam, let me tell you, my friend, you're going to love this recipe. Some of the reasons why I love it are: 1) it's basically just a giant homemade candy bar you can keep in the fridge and cut out slices through the week. 2) the ingredients list is very loose. Don't like Lotus cookies? Swap it out for Oreos. Don't like nuts? Swap out for peanut butter chips or vegan marshmallows or shredded coconut. Anything goes! 3) It's no bake and requires minimum effort and clean up. So without further ado, here it is: Ingredients 3 cups vegan chocolate chips 7/8 cup vegan...
